Epidemic risk modeling for governments and insurers
Santé is building an epidemic catastrophe risk modeling platform for insurers, reinsurers, and governments. With over 100 outbreaks reported by the WHO each year and the next pandemic estimated to cost up to $33 trillion, epidemic risk remains one of the only major catastrophe classes the market cannot reliably price. Santé models epidemic risk to help private and public sector institutions make better decisions around underwriting, reserves, and capital allocation before an outbreak reaches its peak.
Mirelle Pereira is the CEO and co-founder of Santé and holds a Master’s in Public Health from Columbia University. Before founding Santé, Mirelle was a sanitary engineer working on field outbreak responses with governments in Haiti, Brazil, and Sierra Leone, and later at Johnson & Johnson across their finance and global innovation teams in São Paulo. She is joined by co-founder and CTO Rodrigo Paiva, who holds a PhD in Data Science. Previously, Rodrigo served as Head of AI at B3, Latin America’s largest stock exchange, where he built machine learning systems for risk modeling at scale.
