AI-powered smart insoles to prevent diabetic foot complications

D.Sole is building an AI-powered clinical decision support system that helps clinicians prevent and monitor diabetic foot complications using smart insoles with multi-parameter biosensors. By detecting early warning signs before complications become severe, D.Sole helps podiatrists improve quality scores, increase reimbursable revenue, and reduce the $13 billion annual cost of diabetic foot complications for payors and hospitals.

Saisri Akondi is the founder and CEO of D.Sole. She is an MBA candidate at Stanford Graduate School of Business, where she is a Knight-Hennessy Scholar, and holds a dual master’s in Biomedical Engineering and Machine Learning from Carnegie Mellon University. She previously founded a digital vaccination record-keeping platform funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation that later underwent a technology transfer to the Government of India. She is joined by co-founder Jehan Yang, a Robotics PhD candidate at Carnegie Mellon with a master’s in Electrical Engineering from Caltech, whose research in human-robot interaction and generative robot behavior is supported by the National Science Foundation.
