Done by Des is a salon franchise and cosmetology program that aims to revolutionize the $7 billion Black hair industry. By providing a wide range of services inclusive to all hair types with an emphasis on textured hair care resources, Done by Des competes against current salon chains that lack inclusivity in their services. After launching on Stanford’s campus and becoming the university’s most popular hair care provider, the franchise plans to expand throughout the greater Palo Alto area.

Destiny is an Art Practices student at Stanford who dedicates her time to solving the lack of Black hair care resources in the Palo Alto area. The basis of her company is dedicated to her late mother, who has a large impact on her mission to provide hair care resources that are sustainable and eco-friendly. She is also developing a new cosmetology curriculum that includes textured hair care and servicing. Destiny will open her first on-campus salon and cosmetology program following graduation.
